HOW SOON CAN I UNDERGO A REPEAT BOTOX TREATMENT?

How soon you can undergo a Botox repeat treatment is a question we get asked often at our Carlsbad Medical Spa. In general, the aesthetic benefits of Botox last up to three months, after which time it is usually safe to receive a repeat treatment. In fact, some of our San Diego Botox patients will receive a repeat injection sooner in order to maintain the aesthetic benefits of the prior injections.

However, it is always important to evaluate the patient prior to injecting Botox, regardless of whether it is their first injection or a repeat treatment. The reason for this is that, our Dr. Reza Tirgari wants to make sure that you had no complications with the prior injections. He will also look at your skin and how it reacts to Botox in order to determine the correct dosage for a touch-up Botox procedure. The dosage of your repeat Botox injections may vary depending on your aesthetic needs, which can change over time.

In addition, to ensure you maximum safety and satisfaction, it is always best to undergo your repeat Botox treatment with the same doctor because he or she is already familiar with your unique needs, medical history, skin characteristics and aesthetic needs. Your Botox touch-up treatment session is also a good time to talk to your doctor about any additional needs or signs of aging that have appeared and need to be addressed. If you have experienced any issues with your prior injections, this is also a good time to bring that up.

In rare cases, some patients may not react well to Botox in which case, Dr. Tirgari will recommend a different treatment method. If your first run with Botox was not as satisfactory as you expected, which is rare but possible, then you might be a better candidate for a dermal filler.

A dermal filler such as Radiesse or Juvederm can deliver excellent aesthetic results and is appropriate for patients who may have allergic reactions to Botox. Dermal fillers are made of natural substances in the body and extremely safe. In fact, most of our Juvederm and Radiesse patients also receive these injections for lip augmentation or combine them with Botox for a liquid face lift procedure. The combination of dermal fillers with Botox delivers similar results to a surgical face lift without the need for surgery.

In general, Botox touch-up treatments and Botox repeat injections are safe for most patients within three months of their last treatment. However, you should always get evaluated by an experienced doctor prior to undergoing any kind of cosmetic or medical treatment.
