You may wonder what you may need to know before having this procedure. To help you prepare, the following will help you understand what to do before and what to expect from your laser hair treatment:

• Preparation: You’ll need to shave the area being treated at least one day before, or the morning of the procedure. Also avoid any tweezing, waxing, or using any hair removal products in the treatment area. If you’re taking Accutane, it’s advised to stop at least two months before your laser hair treatment. We also advise that you wait at least two weeks to have laser hair removal if you’ve recently been tanning or have had any injectables in the area to be treated. Laser hair removal cannot be used on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Treatment: Sessions are quick depending on the area being treated. A small area like your upper lip can take minutes and a large area like the back or legs may take only one hour. You can expect to have between four to six treatment sessions to fully achieve permanent hair removal in the treated area. However, more sessions may be needed for some. It’s advised to wait between six to eight weeks between each session to allow your hair grow again so it can be effectively removed.
• Aftercare: It’s important to take care of the treated area after each session to minimize irritation and maximize the treatment’s effectiveness. You should use sunscreen on the treated area if it’s exposed to the sun as well as moisturizers as much as possible. It’s best to avoid strenuous exercise for a couple days and harsh cleaners on the treated area. You may experience mild redness and sensitivity in the areas treated for up to a day after the procedure.
