If you have unsightly hair you’d like to get rid of you’re not alone. According to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), laser hair removal was in the top five of minimally-invasive procedures performed with over one million people having the procedure in 2016.
Whether you want to eliminate embarrassingly thick hair or hate the hassle of having to shave we can help. At Avalon Laser, laser hair removal treatment is one of our most performed procedures and we can help you remove hair on nearly any part of the body including, but not limited to the face, arms, back, and bikini line. By combining state-of-the-art technology and advanced techniques, we can achieve amazing results for you.
The techniques we use are highly precise, efficient, and effective. We’re proud to offer such sophisticated techniques because it allows us to eliminate the hair quickly and safely without damaging the surrounding skin and tissue. And after just a few sessions you can enjoy permanent hair removal, as once the hair follicles are destroyed, they won’t grow again.
You may wonder what you may need to know before having this procedure. During your comprehensive consultation with our cosmetic surgeon Dr. Reza Tirgari, he’ll go over your goals, evaluate your skin type to ensure your candidacy for the procedure, and explain to you everything you need to know to prepare for the treatment.
To help you prepare, the following will help you understand what to do before and what to expect from your laser hair treatment:
- Preparation: You’ll need to shave the area being treated at least one day before, or the morning of the procedure. Also avoid any tweezing, waxing, or using any hair removal products in the treatment area. If you’re taking Accutane, it’s advised to stop at least two months before your laser hair treatment. We also advise that you wait at least two weeks to have laser hair removal if you’ve recently been tanning or have had any injectables in the area to be treated. Laser hair removal cannot be used on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Treatment: Sessions are quick depending on the area being treated. A small area like your upper lip can take minutes and a large area like the back or legs may take only one hour. You can expect to have between four to six treatment sessions to fully achieve permanent hair removal in the treated area. However, more sessions may be needed for some. It’s advised to wait between six to eight weeks between each session to allow your hair grow again so it can be effectively removed.
- Aftercare: It’s important to take care of the treated area after each session to minimize irritation and maximize the treatment’s effectiveness. You should use sunscreen on the treated area if it’s exposed to the sun as well as moisturizers as much as possible. It’s best to avoid strenuous exercise for a couple days and harsh cleaners on the treated area. You may experience mild redness and sensitivity in the areas treated for up to a day after the procedure.
