Wrinkle Reduction
Wrinkles can be the result of the normal aging process. However, there are factors that can accelerate the formation of wrinkles, which can lead to the premature aging of the skin.
Facial expressive activity, sun-damage, smoking, hormonal changes, loss of collagen, poor diet and uneven sleep patterns all can contribute to wrinkle formation. In San Diego, the unique effects of sun and the elements can be especially harmful, particularly given the greater time that is spent outdoors.
After the age of 40, collagen can also decrease at a rate of 1% per year in normal individuals. Sun exposure further accelerates this aging process, with loss of collagen and damage to the collagen fibers leading to less support for the upper layers of the skin. The UV-A and UV-B radiation from the sun is especially damaging to the dermis, however heredity and both occupational and recreational habits all can contribute. The wrinkles that are formed from the above processes can either be fine, or deeper and more defined.
However, there is an effective way to correct and even sometimes reverse these processes by using laser wrinkle reduction. Using advanced elos technology, the dermal tissue can be heated with laser light, stimulating the body’s own collagen to replenish itself and tighten the skin. As your body begins to replenish the lost collagen, fines lines and wrinkles gradually begin to fade leading to smoother and healthier-looking skin. Fibroblasts in the skin are stimulated, leading to long-term, lasting results, with significant improvement often being noticed even after only 3 treatments. The process is safe for all skin types and can be used anywhere wrinkles occur.
For much deeper wrinkles and folds that laser treatment alone cannot fix, injectables such as Botox and Juvederm can be used to relax the muscle and/or fill in the folds.
