Your Skin Discoloration Treatment Options at Avalon Laser
In order to provide you with the best treatment option, the first step in eliminating skin discoloration will be to determine what is causing it. Once we know the cause, we can utilize a variety of different treatments alone or in combination to give you the desired results and restore the color and texture of your skin. In most skin discoloration cases, Dr. Reza Tirgari will develop a customized treatment plan. Photofacial treatments, such as IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), have been proven to work extremely well.
For our San Diego IPL patients, we use the latest Syneron SR and SRA technology. The Syneron technology uses a combination of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Radio Frequency (FR) to reach deep into the skin, which is not possible with other types of treatments. After a series of treatments, our patients who are suffering from a range of skin discoloration irregularities will notice significant improvement that will eventually lead to disappearance of any red or brown spots, as well as freckles.
What to Expect During and After Treatment
IPL treatments for skin discoloration are performed at our San Diego or Carlsbad locations. The treatment time is usually about 45-60 minutes.
During treatment, you will not experience any pain or discomfort. At the most, you may feel a sensation of a rubber band snap in some sensitive areas that are close to the bone, such as the jawline. This is the sensation associated with pulsed light that quickly penetrates targeted area. However, it is important to note that IPL treatments are completely non-ablative, meaning no tissue is removed during the procedure.
IPL treatments for skin discoloration are usually completed in a series. Depending on the severity of your skin discoloration. Most patients undergo five to six treatments at intervals of three to four weeks. Maintenance treatments are recommended every three to six months. Dr. Tirgari will draft each patient’s treatment time during the consultation. IPL treatments require no down time and you can immediately resume your normal activities and even apply make-up.
In addition, IPL treatment can be used on any part of the body where you have skin discoloration, including the face, hands, neck and the chest.
