Botox® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, the forehead and crows feet in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time. Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. The effects from Botox will last four to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to re-appear and the wrinkles would need to be re-treated.

The cost of Botox varies depending on the area treated and the severity of the wrinkles. The forehead generally requires an average of 30-40 units, the glabella (area in between the eyebrows) requires an average of 15-20 units and the crows feet usually take 12-15 units.
